Course Overview:
The Global Logistics Diploma provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the logistics and supply chain industry, focusing on key operational, legal, and financial aspects of global trade. This programme equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to navigate international logistics, including trade regulations, transportation methods, inventory management, and supply chain optimisation.
By covering essential logistics principles alongside emerging industry trends, this course ensures that participants gain both foundational and advanced expertise to enhance their career prospects in the global logistics sector.
Course Duration:
Six and a half months Part Time or six weeks Full Time
Part time studies - where you study part time in the evenings and on weekends using our online training program.
Full time studies - when you take time off work to study full time using our online training program.
Recommended study time set aside – for Part Time Studies we would recommend that you would need to set aside 3 to 4 hours a week and for Full Time Studies 12 to 16 hours a week. The time will vary depending on the students original knowledge of the course material.
Course Structure:
• A comprehensive course module in PDF format will be available for download via the e-campus. We are busy developing video versions of the course content to be added to your e-campus.
• Participants may choose to print the course materials for personal use.
• Each week, participants will complete one online exam. Each module includes two exams spaced over two weeks.
• All your online exams are completed on your e-Campus. These exams help you in your studies and keep you on track with the course timetable. They also contribute 40% of your overall diploma course mark.
Course Evaluation:
• Module Exams: 40% of the final mark. Two online exams for each module must be completed within a set time limit.
• Assignment: 20% of the final mark. A final assignment is to be submitted to the e-Tutor for grading and feedback.
• Final Exam: 40% of the final mark. This online exam covers all course materials and is timed.
Course Modules, Assignment and Final Exam:
The Diploma program is divided into 11 core modules, each of which addresses a crucial aspect of logistics. These modules are as follows:
1. Logistics Terminology Certificate: This module provides a comprehensive glossary of industry terms, covering over 70 pages of essential logistics terminology to ensure a strong foundational understanding of the field.
2. Logistics and Global Trade Certificate : Participants will explore the origins and significance of logistics in global trade, including major trade routes, international import and export regulations, world trade policies, and the impact of global logistics on the economy.
3. International Trade Law and Sales Contracts Certificate: This module introduces the fundamentals of international trade law, guiding participants through the preparation of international sales contracts, legal frameworks, and model contract structures to ensure compliance and efficiency in trade agreements.
4. Incoterms 2020 Certificate: A detailed examination of Incoterms 2020, including key terminology, recent revisions, term selection criteria, and the specific rules governing different transport modes in international trade transactions.
5. International Payments Certificate: Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of international payment methods, including documentary collection, letters of credit, and the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600).
6. Logistics in the Economy and Organisation Certificate: This module explores the critical role of logistics in the economy and within organisations, highlighting green logistics, sustainability initiatives, and the future challenges and opportunities facing the logistics sector.
7. Importing, Exporting and Transportation Certificate: Focusing on the procedures for importing and exporting, this module covers transportation methods, multimodal and intermodal logistics, sea and air freight operations, road and rail transport, and essential international documentation.
8. Warehousing and Inventory Management Certificate: Participants will learn about different types of warehouses, their functions, and location considerations, along with key inventory management principles, including inventory types, holding strategies, and optimisation techniques.
9. Purchasing and Materials Flow Management Certificate: This module examines purchasing activities within the supply chain, including cost management, research, and planning, as well as materials flow management, packaging strategies, and efficiency improvements.
10. Management and Control of Logistics Certificate: Covering logistics information systems, this module delves into customer order cycles, advanced order processing, logistics efficiency, and performance control through cost analysis and accurate data management.
11. Supply Chain Management Certificate: Participants will develop a thorough understanding of supply chain management, including logistics strategy implementation, supply chain security, and best practices for optimising end-to-end supply chain operations.
Upon successful completion of the modules, participants will be required to:
• complete an assignment, followed by a
• comprehensive final exam.
Learner Support:
• Weekly Study Plan: Each week you will receive "Your next step in your course" email notifying you of your Study Plan and Assessment program. You will then access your e-campus to complete your studies.
• Personal e-Tutor: Each participant will be assigned a personal e-Tutor, who will provide support and guidance via email.
• Personal Course Plan: Your e-Tutor will communicate with you on a weekly basis (every Monday) to ensure you remain on track with your course program and offer motivation as needed.
